The first book, Fifty Shades of Grey was quickly followed by two more books to complete the trilogy. Fifty Shades Darker and Fifty Shades Freed are proving to be just as popular as Fifty Shades of Grey.
The plot follows the tumultuous relationship between new college graduate Anastasia Steele and calculating and seductive billionaire Christian Grey. After learning that Anastasia is a virgin, Grey agrees to have sex with her in order to prepare her for later encounters, but is required by Grey to sign a contract relinquishing to him complete control over her life. The deeper Anastasia gets, she learns that Grey’s sexual interests involve bondage, domination, and sadism, and that childhood abuse resulted him being deeply damaged. Anastasia agrees to experiment with BDSM, (bondage, discipline, dominance and submission) in order to have a relationship with Grey but she struggles to reconcile who she is (a virgin who has never previously had a boyfriend) with whom Christian wants her to be, a submissive in his “Red Room of Pain”.
